presents the Pittsburgh premiere of...

frozen
written by Bryony Lavery
directed by Melissa Martin

BRYONY LAVERY has written more than 20 plays, produced for television and radio and written books, including a biography of Tallulah Bankhead. She has also been an Artistic Director of Gay Sweatshop and Female Trouble and a teacher of playwriting at Birmingham University.

Her most celebrated work, Frozen, which opened at the Royal National Theatre in July 2002 starring Anita Dobson, Josie Lawrence and Tom Georgeson, was a dark tale of a killer and his victim's mother. Kate Kellaway has written of Lavery's "gift for multi-dimensional feeling - she lights up the darkest spaces without trivialising or undermining her subject." Lavery puts it more directly: "You know how teachers used to say 'NO LAUGHING'? I have never been in a situation, however tragic, where there isn't something funny."
